Annual Event A Success

On August 11 GLPE celebrated its 6th Annual Victims Advocate Day event. This year's host church was Graceway Baptist Church in Easley, SC; Dr. Tim Lee Pastor.
Our featured speakers were Dr. Gene Hutchins and Dr. J.W. Stansell, both of GLPE; Dewey Brown of Helping Hands; Alex Levy of Rape Crisis; and our main speaker was Senator Larry Martin. Senator Martin is a leader in the South Carolina Senate and serves as Chairman of the powerful Senate Judiciary Committee. He also serves on the Banking and Insurance; Education; General; and Rules committees.
GLPE was able to once again give Bibles, backpacks with hygene products, coloring books and crayons, toys and teddy bears to Helping Hands of Clemson, Rape Crisis of Pickens County, and the Julie Valentine Center of Greenville. We also donated 100 teddy bears to the Pickens Police Department.
Tom Garrett of DSS was awarded our Humanitarian oif the Year Award; Chief Rodney Gregory and Asst. Chief Travis Riggs were awarded for their years of faithful service to the citizens of Pickens, and Ty Nalley was awarded as our officer of the year. Timm Lee, Gene Hutchins and Daniel Stansell were all three awarded with honorary Doctor of Divinity Degrees. Senator Martin was awarded for his 34 years of service to our state.
