![]() Well--- we are a non-profit service group comprised of representatives from local area Churches in and around Gouverneur. We were band together in January of 2002, with the purpose of helping those in our area that had no were else to turn, and since then we have helped many families who would have went without the life giving medications and medical equipment that they so desperately needed and continue to. We are working to fill the needs of those who might not be able to meet the guide lines of other groups or government agencies, simply because they might be just over the dollar amount set by these agencies, or their household size tells them that they should be O.K. We live in the real world where not everything is black or white, cut and dried. Many of our members including the founder of our group have had to deal with these guide lines and set standerds in times of sickness and stress. We know first hand what the people we are trying to help are going through, and no one will be turned away. We try to work towards the words of our founder when we say! NO ONE'S CRY FOR HELP, SHALL EVER FALL ON DEAF EARS The services we offer are growing each day, and with the support of our churches and their members we hope to be able to do much more. At present we offer the following services: An extensive Data Base of Drug Companies, that are willing to help those in need. We supply the information needed, the 1-800 numbers, and help in filling out the forms. We offer, a list of safe, clean places to stay, if you are a patient or have a family member undergoing treatment or are hospitalized in many of our larger city's. Far to often we living in the North Country, have to travel long distances to receive the treatment we need and this is always and added expence and worry. Most of the housing that we offer is free of charge or available for a small donation. We also network with different volunteer groups to help with transportation, this is done on a local level, geting people to doctor appointments and treatment centers as well as working with the support and help of other volunteers to transport those in need of treatment to different parts of the country. We also purchase medications for those in need when funds are available, and medical equipment such as hospital beds, walkers, wheel chairs, and blood testing supplies and equipment. We also work closely with area health clinics and doctors and when the need arises we will set up appointments and and with the help of these area clinics and doctors we can often find free medications for those in need. Although our main mission is to help those in need meet their medical requirements, we do much more, we also have help people in need with food, fuel, lights, and even shelter. We continue to grow and to do more, so please call if you feel that there is no place left to turn, or you know someone in need.
