From the Pastor
“Be still and know that I am God.” – Psalm 46:10
We heard this in worship on Reformation Day. My husband, John and I have this piece of scripture in our kitchen as well. It helps to remind us that in the midst of life, we are called to still ourselves and know that God is the Almighty. Even as life gets busy or we want our own control over life, we are called to remember that God is with us always, Christ is walking alongside us, and the Holy Spirit is filling us each step of the way. Of course there are days when I forget this and try to make sense out of the chaos of life, but some small voice speaks up within me, reminding me to be still and know this voice; this voice is God.
I am thankful and blessed that God has brought us together. I am sad for the circumstances in which Pastor Mark needed to leave and I continue to pray that God will bring healing to him and his family as well as to you, the congregation. You have been blessed with Pastor Mark’s presence and ministry for almost seventeen years. That is a long time in which relationships have grown and strengthened. I have heard stories of Pastor Mark and his ministry with you. I encourage you to continue telling these stories, because that is where the healing process happens. Part of my call here as interim is to help you through this healing process. I am always willing to listen and if you have stories or would like to process this transition, please don’t hesitate to come and talk with me. My hope is that we can remember and celebrate the time that Pastor Mark was with you and the ministry you did together on November 8th and continue to move through the healing process together.
In November we will move into continued growth of stewardship. It will not only be about the stewardship of our money, but about the stewardship of our lives. We will discuss how life as wholeness, integration, and connections. We will learn about the African word, Ubuntu, which means life in relation to God and to one another. I will be looking for collaboration on this stewardship piece of our faith, so if you are interested in helping, please let me know.
I look forward to our continued growth in faith together, knowing that God will lead us into a deeper faith relationship with each other and with God.
May God’s peace be with you,
Pastor Andrea
