We will cover motion and forces, Work, machines and energy, electricity and waves, sound and light.
Physics: The book is from Its About Time Active Physics Coreselect ISBN 1585913138 Copyright 2005.
We will cover physics in action; in sports, in collisions, on bridges and at amusement parks. Electricity, waves, sound and light will also be explored.
Prerequisite: Algebra I
Math - Teaching Textbooks with solution and lecture CDs : Algebra 1 Geometry
English -High School English : 20th Century Literature will be the basis for this class which will incorporate all styles of writing with a block of time in the Spring to focus on a Research Paper in order to meet the PHAA requirements. Jr High students are welcome to participate in this class, although all instruction will be geared to the high school level. Weekly writing & reading assignments will challenge these students throughout the year. A book list of at least 7 books which will be read/discussed throughout the year will be available in the summer along with a list of other literature which may be used by families to meet the 25 book minimum as required by PHAA. The speech requirement can be met through presentations throughout the year.
High School History: Although there is no set course of study for the 2009-2010 school year, many families will be studying 20th century History (in conjunction with the English course) on their own. As a result, groups may be getting together outside of co-op to work on projects together, making presentations and fulfulling speech requirements.
