Statement of Personal Beliefs of dub W

Through my trust in Jesus Christ, my personal beliefs are stated daily, both in my ministry and in my life.

One example I might share: a few years ago the husband of a cousin had open-heart surgery. I began a letter-writing ministry to him – in that he lives in Missouri, and was of an age not to be computer bound. Not long after his surgery our pastor announced that he too was having open-heart surgery – so, the letters continued to him. Following that, a good fried lost his wife to cancer, another friend lost his wife to heart disease … and the list goes on – to each, these letters of faith were sent. Additionally, about that time, I began writing more articles specifically for the church and was published in numerous church newsletters – a practice I continue today.

In the ministerial exploration process of the United Methodist Church I was asked to explore many of the questions of my faith.  I discovered many things about myself, and my relationship with Jesus Christ. Mostly, I discovered my weaknesses. But, importantly God allowed me to find a role in teaching; not necessarily preaching but living a Christian life in the classroom – the advantage of the college classroom, if asked I was never afraid of professing my faith. And, every student knew wherein my faith was based.

Only God knows the heart of every man, but in this statement I declare that the love of God permeates my being, and though I often slip, it is his love continually received by me. God is the only redeemer, God is the only God, he is in and with me; although there is little I can do to define God, I desire to know nothing but God.

No man is perfectly Holy in all manner of conversation, but with God’s help I desire and strive toward perfection in the Holy manner of conversation. I believe that I am following and learning everyday.  I contend that my judgment is more and more based on a clear and sound understanding of the things of God. I believe wholeheartedly in salvation by faith, for without salvation by faith, I, among the multitude, would be lost.

Paul defined the first fruit as Christ rising from the dead. Likewise, Paul declares that because Christ died for our sin, so that we may bear fruit, cast off sin (and pagan law). I believe that every day I live my life toward a fruit bearing life.

I believe that because Christ absorbed the torment for me, I can bear fruit in his name.

I fully attest to my conversion, my abhorrence to personal sin. I find that through my service to the church, the schools, the community, and my family, I can serve God in a manner fully indemnified by my quest for forgiveness, by public admission of sin, and my faith that though Christ sin is forgiven.
