Hi Neighbor: My name is Richard B. Im 81 years young and have just returned to my Berkshires from 22 years in Durham, N.C, Duke University Hospital. I want to share my spiritually uplifting life changing event with you. First of all my question is would you like to feel truly blessed by Jesus, like I have been since last October 13th, 2007. In my past affilations with several churches. I have always felt welcome but never have I received such a truly Christian blessing, as when I entered Dalton United Methodist Church. In April I was told That I had lung cancer, that might spread to my brain, bones, and other soft tissue organs. So there was no time to think about what to do next. The Oncologist said we will start Chemo right away, and schedule appointments for a brain scan, bone scan etc.. etc.. So needless to say I crumbled and felt as though it was a death sentence. Two days of crying and  not moving out of my chair. I yelled at my partner Frank and asked him where he was that I needed him. He was on his knees praying for me in the kitchen. All thing are possible when your faith is strong!! That evening I had a little time alone, so I dropped to my knees and asked Jesus to please hear my prayer to save my life. I told Him that my children needed me, and that I would weep at his feet if He were standing there in front of me for a second chance at life. Please dear Jesus I give you my heart. The next day I received a call from the doctor telling me that my first set of scans where put in place. First was the brain scan which took almost an hour so I recited the Lords Prayer all the time that they were doing the scan. The Tech's told me that they would not have the results until the next day. And they wished me the best of luck. I thanked them and told that the Lord was good and that things would be alright. They smiled!! The next day the results came back negative no cancer on the brain. Thank you Jesus. When I went for chemo i Prayed to the Lord, and on the way out i thanked Him. After the first session of chemo which is three treatments, my dr was  suprised that it had started to work.Thats when i realized that Jesus was going to see me through no matter how tough the treatments were.He was letting me pull the strength from Him. After the first session of chemo was finished, i had more scans done to make sure the cancer was not anywhere else. They set them up so i could have them on the same day. On the day of the scans i was so nervous and sick to my stomach.I Prayed and got through it with the support of some great nurses at B.M.C, I told them that my faith would bring good news. When the tech called and said that both scans came back clean.I cried tears of joy and thanked Jesus!! Jesus is my Lord and and Saviour.
After the second chemo , i had to have 28 radiation treatments. there are a lot of side effects with those treatments, one is that it  causes burns on your skin. Im now almost finished will the treatments, and my skin is a little red, but that was it.What i needed was a miracle!! Im almost finished with the radation treatments. And in 5 weeks i will get another scan to see how things went. The Lord is good, He will never leave me or forsake me. So i had no doubts as to the end results. Relying on the Lord`s  promise is so comforting ,and takes all my fears away. The only way i have gotten through this is through Jesus. He has put many people on the same path that im on for a reason. I have a Prayer buddy,Her name is JoAnne, who prays with me each night at exactly 8:00PM. Also a Minister who also has cancer. Has annointed me as well as Prayed with me.~~~Jesus is the way, the truth, and the light~~~
To end my testimonial all i have to say is that i put Jesus in the forefront of my mind, and let Him lead me to the treatments and diet. All things are possible when you believe in Jesus. ~~Amen~~
