Knights for Christ will serve as the theme for the 2009-2010 school year!  This theme is based on a stanze from the Competitior's Creed of the FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes).

Sports News:  Our B Basketball Teams are off and running in the 2009 season. All teams are off to a successful start. The B Boys currently are 4-0 on the season. The Silver Girls (5-6) have started the season at 3-0 and the Blue Girls (6-7) have a 2-1 record on the short season. Click on the sports tab to see the full season schedule. We would love to have a full house at each of our home games. Come out and support the Knights.

Fundraisers:  The Magazine Fundraiser has begun. Order forms and packets are due back on Monday, November 30. Remember that you can RENEW any current subscriptions regardless of renewal date. The renewal will go into effect at the end of your current subscription. The prices are competitive and better than some other offers - plus $0.40 of every dollar is returned to the school. This program is a benefit for all involved.

Basket Fundraiser:  On  Sunday, December 6, the LLL is hosting a Swiss Steak Dinner at St. Paul-Unionville in the CTK school gym. In conjunction with this CTKL is hosting a Basket Fundraiser Silent Auction. Each class is putting together themed basket(s) to be auctioned off at the dinner. Each student will be asked to contribute one item that would fit with their classes theme. There will be a minimum bid established and then we will have bid sheets on which the silent auction takes place. These baskets are great holiday items for your whole family, friends, relatives etc. Bid on one yourself or combine your efforts with another bidder to get the basket of your choice. Proceeds will help with general operating expenses at CTK.

BOE Breakfast:  On Sunday, December 13, the Board of Education will be hosting a Breakfast frm 10-1 at the CTK-Sebewaing Campus. We will be serving eggs, sausage, pancakes, toast and beverages. Proceeds will help with general operating expenses for at CTK. Please plan to attend.

Accreditation: Our visitation team is unanimously recommending us for Accreditation by the following entities: Michgian District - LCMS, Michigan Associate of Non-Public Schools (MANS), and National Lutheran Schools Accreditation (NLSA). The visit team shared they were impressed with the positive school climate developed at CTKL which is a testament to both the studets and the staff. They also commented about the continued support of both congregations and the Pastors at both congregations noting that there are only 3 schools with a similar dual parish set up in the entire District and other Congregations considering the feasibility of a dual parish school are using CTKL as a model. The visitation team will compile a complete report with an in-depth review of all content areas within the 12 areas/objectives that are part of the Self-Study. We will use the information from this report to develop a school improvement plan which will be implemented over the course of the next 5 years. Technology Upgrades:
You will hear a buzz from your kids regarding the technology upgrades at both campuses. Both computer labs were updated with new Dell computers, and yes they are flat screens. There is wireless connectivitiy available at both campuses. It needs to be expanded to reach all areas of the buildings, but it is a start. There is a new ceiling mounted projector in the Sebewaing lab, and the teacher's now have a new laptop so their work is more portable. We have subscribed to some special services through Learning.com, Learn360, and Worldbook Online. Student will use these features throughout the year.  Sebewaing campus students are asked to purchase a set of headphones for use in the computer lab. 5th-8th grade students may also want to purchase a flash drive to store their homework and make it protable between home and school.  Additional items are needed to complete the computer lab upgrade.
