CHERITHBROOK BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW
The goal of CHERITHBROOK BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW is to investigate and support a biblical worldview. My own understanding of what constitutes a world view and what makes a world view "Biblical" has been greatly influenced by the book, "Understanding the Times" by David Noebel. Very basically, a worldview is a philosophy; ideology or religion that provides an overarching approach to understanding God, the world, and man's relation to both. According to David Noebel a complete worldview will define for its adherents what will be their theology, philosophy, ethics, biology, psychology, sociology, law, politics, economics, and interpretation of history. A Biblical Worldview seeks to define each of those areas by investigating what the Bible has to say about them. I recognize that the Bible is not a sociology handbook, nor a political study course. It does contain valuable insight to God's approval or disapproval, directives and oppositions, connected to those areas while it's main theme is the fall and redemption of mankind.

A Biblical Worldview teaches
  • The existence of a personal, ethical, self-revealing God.
  • Supernaturalism, as opposed to naturalism and materialism in philosophy.
  • The ethical absolutes understood from the Bible.
  • Special creation of biology (life) and all its supports.
  • Dualism (Body and Soul) or Tri-Unity (Body, Soul, Spirit) psychology.
  • Priorities organized as Home, Church, State in sociology.
  • Laws based on Biblical and Natural Law.
  • Politics based on Justice, Freedom and Order.
  • Economics as stewardship of Godˇ¦s gifts and property.
  • History is God-directed and includes resurrection, judgement and the dividing of the righteous and wicked to their respective eternal existences with God or separated from Him.

If a student of the Bible will gather every mention with economic bearing from the Bible, a biblical view of economics will emerge. Considering context and originating culture, and diligently guarding against any personal agenda, are vital to discovering a truly biblical view. My personal agenda is to discover, apply to myself, and promote to others all that God has to teach me about theology, philosophy, ethics, biology, psychology, sociology, law, politics, economics, and interpretation of history. In short, I want to live according to God's Word.

"If Christianity is untrue, then no honest man will want to believe it, however helpful it might be; if it is true, every honest man will want to believe it, even if it gives him no help at all." - C. S. Lewis
