These people are "not drunk as ye suppose." This is only a small part of what was promised by the prophet Joel. Yes, signs and wonders do follow the preaching of the Word.

Here we are in the Northeast of Brazil sharing the gospel with kids at an orphanage.

This girl came in off the street, obviously not dressed for church. However, Brazilian don't mind that understanding the church should be a place lost sinners feel free to enter. This girl was under strong conviction. She got born again, a demon of sexual immorality caste out, and we turned her over to the local pastor for descipleship.

The power of God always moves mightily in Brazil. Why? The people are in one accord and hungry.

This tranquil scene for our first day in Nazario was suddenly broken when a woman stormed into the house screaming for help.

The next day the funeral was held right in the people’s home. The girl at the head of the coffin was the dead man’s daughter, who was obviously very sad over her father’s death. However, being a dedicated Christian praying daily for her father’s salvation, we know in time she will focus on the mercy of God and how miraculous it was her father just barely made it in.
John opened the service at Narzario singing his gospel version of the song: "Choices" made popular by George Jones

We prayed for the fellow in the red shirt over a condition in his cheek that had been diagnosed as cancer. Upon our return home we called our friends at the church and were told he had been back to the doctor for tests and the cancer was completely gone. God is faithful!

This is one of two available hotels in Nazario. Before we left on our trip, the Lord gave Eliâne a dream and specifically warned her that we were not to stay in this hotel. It was next to the bus depot and on the left was a bar where some rough looking characters hung around. We heeded the Lord’s advice and enjoyed our safe stay at the other hotel.
Notice! You may have to scroll quite a ways occasionally to get to the next picture. Having this problem is one reason we are moving to the new site.

The Lord is bringing this accused cattle rustler under strong conviction as he is carefully listening to Eliâne tell him his story without actually having known it beforehand.

This backslidden young man got on his knees and renewed his commitment to Jesus, and we believe the Lord is answering our prayer in giving him peace of mind. The two young men in the back were very moved by what they saw the Lord doing in the jail and they also came to salvation that day. “Likewise I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.” Luke 15:10.

Pastor Alcantara is on the left. His daughter Fernanda on the right gave us this beautiful bird an inmate had given her. He made it while in jail carefully and tediously folding various colored paper and pasting them into the form of this bird. Thanks go to the inmate and to Fernanda who so graciously gave it to us.
We sweat a lot every day and consequently we have to wash clothes everyday. No, she doesn’t do all the work, but some folks get real particular about how clothes are hung on the line.

This dad came to visit his son in the jail and was thrilled we were there at the same time. We got the young man to repent of his sins and to receive Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. His dad was elated. We are believing with the Lord's grace he will follow our counsel and find a Jesus believing church in his area when he gets out, and never have to come back to the jail again.

The fellow on the left is the one for whom Eliâne had a word from the Lord. The fellow in the top bunk was the one who was sick and asked prayer for his healing.

You can see the dust these cattle are stirring up as they are running down the road toward us. We stopped just long enough to get the picture and then get out of there. Eliâne was very worried, but as an old cowboy I was having a lot of fun.

We thought everything was bigger in Texas, but not mosquitoes. In Aurilandia, which has a big river flowing through it, both Eliâne and I got bitten several times by these pesky rascals that leave big welts and spread infection.

These two young men in the Parauna jail asked for prayer. The one on the left is doing his best to hold back his tears.

Eliâne prays for a young girl at the Parauna Jail in her 7th month of pregnancy who got involved with wrong company. “The righteous should choose his friends carefully, For the way for the wicked leads them astray.“ Prov. 12:26. She had never been to church nor had a Bible; but upon just hearing the Word, she got born again, had her first church service, and now had her own Bible.
Eliane starts preaching at the parauna Jail. Brazilian inmates have always been good to preach to becaue they are very attentive.

Think abut it - this girl had never been to church and no one in her family knew anything about the Lord. All she needed was to hear the gospel. A big God bless you and thank you, goes to those of you who sent us.

When I saw the parade coming toward us, I was elated and grabbed my camera right away. This fellow on the bull led the parade of probably about 500 riders.

The day was hot and these fellows on the mules dropped out of the parade to get something cool to drink.

At the moment this is not a happy camper walking down this dusty dirt road. Later after getting some much needed sleep she again was ready to whip the world, the flesh, and the devil.

When I saw this horse and cart I thought the horse was wearing some kind of bonnet, but it turned out to be only blinders that are used to keep the horse from seeling behind.

The lady on the left is the one who called us on the street to come and visit with her friend Mrs. Brito. The lady on the right is the one who owns the little hole in the wall restaurant that was so immaculately clean.

We walk a lot on these mission trips and it is always a blessing to find a large shade tree and to stop and get some rest.

The lady in the middle is Mrs. Brito and you can see the big smile and hapy conuntenance on her face. That's her family Bible we used to lead her to the Lord. This was just one soul and as the angels in heaven were probably holding their breath, it took a lot of praying and witnessing, but the Word of God break the rocks asunder.

The principal asked us to show our before and after pictures of drug users. Notice the expression on the little girl closest to Eliane. Yuck! What a horrible thing!
We met this fellow on the street who had been seriously hurt in a construction accident. We led him to the Lord and now I am praying for the Lord to completely heal him so he can get back to work and take care of his familyh. Most Brazilians who don't know the Lord are very open to salvation once you explain it to them.

The director gathered al but one class in the courtyard of the school. Look at these hands raised for salvation. It was at this school we saw our first manifestation of the Spirit of God.

The first boy (not shown) got saved in the big church behind. He than led my friend sitting next to me in the sinner's prayer and another soul was snatched away from the devil.
