What's Most Important to Us?
Over the past few weeks, many distractions have crept up that has truly kept our focus off of what IS IMPORTANT! There is absolutely NO EXCUSE for this garbage - yes I said GARBAGE. We must never take our focus off of the Lord Jesus Christ. Remember, everything on this earth is TEMPORAL. We need to be focused on the ETERNAL!
REACH OUT - we must make room for more people to join this church!!! This will require us to do things differently. What's important, our feelings or their souls? That's a question each person must answer. The church is a body - the body of Christ, not the building that is located on Black Creek Road. Will that ruffle a few feathers - yes. Who are we supposed to be serving? God. That's right!
What is different? We MUST go to two services. Don't bring that up again you say. But YES, two services. Both services identical, Children's church offered at 11, Sunday School at 945, and all Sunday night activities remain the same. We MUST make room for newcomers on Sunday mornings. There are positives and negatives to this - I do realize this - but realize this: Our growth will cease if we continue with just one service and little room for folks to sit. Sorry, they won't come back. Our focus is not on us - but to help them find HIM.
See, we are averaging right around 145-150 in worship - that's 82% capacity in our sanctuary. Regardless of the attendance in 8:30 and 11:00, if we take a step of faith, God will reward our efforts. I fully believe, we can be running 225 by Christmas, in both services, with a whopping average of 135 in Sunday School, and baptize more than what we baptized last year, by Christmas. With more people, that's more potential to give - that's more potential teachers/workers - that's more in the Kingdom of God. It's not about numbers or statistics - It's about people coming to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Hear my heart - it's not about agendas, gracious, we've got enough of that garbage, it's about seeing people come to know Christ.
Was all of that wordy? YES! Was that Spirit-filled and heart-felt - YES!
The time is now, not tomorrow. Will it be harder on me as Pastor - YES, do I care, NO. Do I want us to continue to grow? Otherwise, I wouldn't bring this up again.
Thankful to be a servant of the King!
Bro. Jon
NOTE: When I figure out how to put the pics from Easter online - they'll be up!
