THE WORSHIP MEETING HANDBOOK

Church Meeting 3

Jesus said:

But go ye and learn what [that] meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice:

for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

                                                                        Matthew 9:13 [1898 Young’s Literal translation]

Everything that follows in these handbooks must be considered in the light of the above scripture,

and it would do well to remember that Christians also commit sin.

Having experienced mercy it will be our joy to do the spiritual sacrifices detailed in the handbooks.

FELLOWSHIP: PEACE OFFERING

FEAST OF TABERNACLES MEETING

"Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise -

the fruit of lips that confess His Name."

                                                                        Hebrews 13:15.

The fellowship: peace sacrifice is voluntary and the New Testament equivalent is praise from our

hearts, minds and lips in worship.

In Leviticus 3 we find the fellowship/ peace offering in which the blood, flesh and fat are consumed.

Portion  of the sacrifice is for the priest, God and person.

*- For the sake of praise, and is a thank offering to our God.

Sacrifice thank-offerings to God, fulfil your vows to the Most High, and call upon me in the day of trouble;

I will deliver you, and you will honour me.

He who sacrifices thank-offerings honours me, and he prepares the way so that I may show him the

salvation of God.

Psalm 5O:14, 15, and 23. [New International Version]

Praise the Lord, all you nations; extol him all you peoples. For great is his love towards us, and the

faithfulness of the Lord endures forever.

Praise the Lord.

Psalm 117:1, 2. [New International Version]

Worship is by and in and through the Holy Spirit: -

Then the church throughout Judea, Galilee and Samaria enjoyed a time of peace. It was strengthened;

and encouraged by the Holy Spirit; it grew in numbers, living in fear of the Lord.

                                                                                                                                Acts 9:31. [New International Version]

And we, who with faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory,

which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

2 Corinthians 3:18. [New International Version]

.......He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously

through Jesus Christ our Saviour, so that having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of

eternal life.

                                                                                                                                Titus 3:5. [New International Version]

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

2 Corinthians 3:17. [New International Version]

Exalted to the right hand of God, he has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured

out what you now see and hear.

And the disciples were filled with joy and the Holy Spirit.

Acts 2:33, 13:52. [New International Version]

And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation.

Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing

our inheritance.........?

                                                                                                                Ephesians 1:13. [New International Version]

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace, as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by

the power of the Holy Spirit.

                                                                                                                Romans 15:13. [New International Version]

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

Galatians 5:22, 23. [New International Version]

Therefore I tell that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, "Jesus be cursed," and no one can say,

"Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit.

1 Corinthians 12:3. [New International Version]

May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,

be with you all.

2 Corinthians 13:14. [New International Version]

For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you have received the Spirit of

Sonship.

And by him we cry, "Abba, Father."

The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children.

                                                                                                                Romans 8:15. [New International Version]

Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the lord all the earth. Sing to the Lord, praise his name; proclaim

his salvation day after day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvellous deeds among the nations,

his marvellous deeds among all the peoples.

For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; he is to be feared above all gods. For all the gods of the

nations are idols, but the Lord made the heavens. Splendour and majesty are before him; strength and glory

are in his sanctuary.

Ascribe to the Lord, O families of nations, ascribe to the Lord the glory due to his name; bring an offering and

come into his courts. Worship the Lord in the splendour of his holiness; tremble before him, all the earth.

Say among the nations "The Lord reigns." The world is firmly established, it cannot be moved; he will judge

the people with equity. Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let the sea resound, and all that is in it;

let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them. Then all the trees of the forest will sing for joy; they will sing

before the Lord, for he comes, he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness and the

peoples in his truth.

                                                                                                                Psalm 96:1 - 13. [New International Version]

Who may ascend the hill of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place? He who has clean hands and a

pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to an idol or swear by what is false. He will receive blessing from

the Lord and vindication from God his Saviour.

                                                                                                                Psalm 24:3, 4, 5. [New International Version]

They sought God eagerly, and he was found by them. So the Lord gave them rest on every side.

2 Chronicles 15:15b. [New International Version]

".....This is what the Lord says to you: `Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the

battle is not yours, but God's.....................

.................................Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the Lord and to praise him for the splendour

of his holiness as they went out at the head of the army, saying: Give thanks to the Lord, for his love

endures for ever."

As they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes against .........., and they were defeated.

2 Chronicles 20:15 through 22. [New International Version]

THERE SHOULD BE TIME GIVEN TO MAKE RIGHT WITH THE LORD IN TERMS OF VOWS AND PROMISES.

Mark 7:7 [New international Version]

They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men.' {Isaiah 29:13}

8  You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to the traditions of men."

9  And he said to them: "You have a fine way of setting aside the commands of God in order to

observe  {Some manuscripts set up} your own traditions!

Matthew 5:17 - 45 [New International version]

17  "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them

but to fulfil them.

18  I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen,

will by any means disappear

from the Law until everything is accomplished.

19  Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called

least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practises and teaches these commands will be called great in the

kingdom of heaven.

20  For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law,

you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.

21  "You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, `Do not murder, {Exodus 20:13} and anyone who

murders will be subject to judgment.'

22  But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother {Some manuscripts brother without cause} will be

subject to judgment. Again,

anyone who says to his brother, `Raca,' {An Aramaic term of contempt} is answerable to the Sanhedrin. But

anyone who says, `You fool!' will be in danger of the fire of hell.

23  "Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something

against you,

24  leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer

your gift.

25  "Settle matters quickly with your adversary who is taking you to court. Do it while you are still with him on

the way, or he may hand you over to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may

be thrown into prison.

26  I tell you the truth, you will not get out until you have paid the last penny. {Greek kodrantes}

27  "You have heard that it was said, `Do not commit adultery.' {Exodus 20:14}

28  But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

29  If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your

body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.

30  And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your

body than for your whole body to go into hell.

31  "It has been said, `Anyone who divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce.' {Deut. 24:1}

32  But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, causes her to become an

adulteress, and anyone who marries the divorced woman commits adultery.

33  "Again, you have heard that it was said to the people long ago, `Do not break your oath, but keep the oaths

you have made to the Lord.'

34  But I tell you, Do not swear at all: either by heaven, for it is God's throne;

35  or by the earth, for it is his footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King.

36  And do not swear by your head, for you cannot make even one hair white or black.

37  Simply let your `Yes' be `Yes', and your `No', `No'; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.

38  "You have heard that it was said, `Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.' {Exodus 21:24; Lev. 24:20

and Deut. 19:21}

39  But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him

the other also.

40  And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well.

41  If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles.

42  Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.

43  "You have heard that it was said, `Love your neighbour {Lev. 19:18} and hate your enemy.'

44  But I tell you: Love your enemies {Some late manuscripts enemies, bless those who curse you, do

good to those who hate you} and pray for those who persecute you,

45  that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good,

and sends rain on the righteous and the unright

Leviticus 23: 1 -24 [New International Version]

1  The LORD said to Moses,

2  "Speak to the Israelites and say to them: `These are my appointed feasts, the appointed feasts of the LORD, which you are to

proclaim as sacred assemblies.

3  "`There are six days when you may work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of rest, a day of sacred assembly. You are not to do

any work; wherever you live, it is a Sabbath to the LORD.

4  "`These are the LORD's appointed feasts, the sacred assemblies you are to proclaim at their appointed times:

5  The LORD's Passover begins at twilight on the fourteenth day of the first month.

6  On the fifteenth day of that month the LORD's Feast of Unleavened Bread begins; for seven days you must eat bread made

without yeast.

7  On the first day hold a sacred assembly and do no regular work.

8  For seven days present an offering made to the LORD by fire. And on the seventh day hold a sacred assembly and do no

regular work.'"

9  The LORD said to Moses,

10  "Speak to the Israelites and say to them: `When you enter the land I am going to give you and you reap its harvest, bring

to the priest a sheaf of the first grain you harvest.

11  He is to wave the sheaf before the LORD so it will be accepted on your behalf; the priest is to wave it on the day after

the Sabbath.

12  On the day you wave the sheaf, you must sacrifice as a burnt offering to the LORD a lamb a year old without defect,

13  together with its grain offering of two-tenths of an ephah {That is, probably about 7 1/2 pints (about 4.5 litres); also in

verse 17} of fine flour mixed with oil--an offering made to the LORD by fire, a pleasing aroma--and its drink offering of a

quarter of a hin {That is, probably about 1 1/2 pints (about 1 litre)} of wine.

14  You must not eat any bread, or roasted or new grain, until the very day you bring this offering to your God. This is to be

a lasting ordinance for the generations to come, wherever you live.

15  "`From the day after the Sabbath, the day you brought the sheaf of the wave offering, count off seven full weeks.

16  Count off fifty days up to the day after the seventh Sabbath, and then present an offering of new grain to the LORD.

17  From wherever you live, bring two loaves made of two-tenths of an ephah of fine flour, baked with yeast, as a wave

offering of firstfruits to the LORD.

18  Present with this bread seven male lambs, each a year old and without defect, one young bull and two rams. They will

be a burnt offering to the LORD, together with their grain offerings and drink offerings--an offering made by fire, an aroma

pleasing to the LORD.

19  Then sacrifice one male goat for a sin offering and two lambs, each a year old, for a fellowship offering. {Traditionally

peace offering}

20  The priest is to wave the two lambs before the LORD as a wave offering, together with the bread of the firstfruits.

They are a sacred offering to the LORD for the priest.

21  On that same day you are to proclaim a sacred assembly and do no regular work. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the

generations to come, wherever you live.

22  "`When you reap the harvest of your land, do not reap to the very edges of your field or gather the gleanings of your

harvest. Leave them for the poor and the alien. I am the LORD your God.'"

23  The LORD said to Moses,

24  "Say to the Israelites: `On the first day of the seventh month you are to have a day of rest, a sacred assembly

commemorated with trumpet blasts.

25  Do no regular work, but present an offering made to the LORD by fire.'"

26  The LORD said to Moses,

27  "The tenth day of this seventh month is the Day of Atonement. Hold a sacred assembly and deny yourselves, {Or and fast;

also in verses 29 and 32} and present an offering made to the LORD by fire.

28  Do no work on that day, because it is the Day of Atonement, when atonement is made for you before the LORD your God.

29  Anyone who does not deny himself on that day must be cut off from his people.

30  I will destroy from among his people anyone who does any work on that day.

31  You shall do no work at all. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come, wherever you live.

32  It is a sabbath of rest for you, and you must deny yourselves. From the evening of the ninth day of the month until the

following evening you are to observe your sabbath."

33  The LORD said to Moses,

34  "Say to the Israelites: `On the fifteenth day of the seventh month the LORD's Feast of Tabernacles begins, and it lasts for

seven days.

35  The first day is a sacred assembly; do no regular work.

36  For seven days present offerings made to the LORD by fire, and on the eighth day hold a sacred assembly and present an

offering made to the LORD by fire. It is the closing assembly; do no regular work.

37  ("`These are the LORD's appointed feasts, which you are to proclaim as sacred assemblies for bringing offerings made to

the LORD by fire--the burnt offerings and grain offerings, sacrifices and drink offerings required for each day.

38  These offerings are in addition to those for the LORD's Sabbaths and {Or These feasts are in addition to the LORD's Sabbaths,

and these offerings are} in addition to your gifts and whatever you have vowed and all the freewill offerings you give to the LORD.)

39  "`So beginning with the fifteenth day of the seventh month, after you have gathered the crops of the land, celebrate the festival

to the LORD for seven days; the first day is a day of rest, and the eighth day also is a day of rest.

40  On the first day you are to take choice fruit from the trees, and palm fronds, leafy branches and poplars, and rejoice before the

LORD your God for seven days.

41  Celebrate this as a festival to the LORD for seven days each year. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come;

celebrate it in the seventh month.

42  Live in booths for seven days: All native-born Israelites are to live in booths

43  so that your descendants will know that I made the Israelites live in booths when I brought them out of Egypt. I am the LORD

your God.'"

44  So Moses announced to the Israelites the appointed feasts of the LORD.

Daniel 7 22 - 28 [New International Version]

22  until the Ancient of Days came and pronounced judgment in favour of the saints of the Most High, and the

time came when they possessed the kingdom.

23  "He gave me this explanation: `The fourth beast is a fourth kingdom that will appear on earth. It will be

different from all the other kingdoms and will devour the whole earth, trampling it down and crushing it.

24  The ten horns are ten kings who will come from this kingdom. After them another king will arise, different

from the earlier ones; he wil l subdue three kings.

25  He will speak against the Most High and oppress his saints and try to change the set times and the laws.

The saints will be handed over to him for a time, times and half a time. {Or for a year, two years and half a year}

26  "`But the court will sit, and his power will be taken away and completely destroyed for ever.

27  Then the sovereignty, power and greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven will be handed over to

the saints, the people of the Most High. His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all rulers will worship

and obey him.'

28  "This is the end of the matter. I, Daniel, was deeply troubled by my thoughts, and my face turned pale, but

I kept the matter to myself."

Zechariah 14:1 - 21 [New International Version]

1  A day of the LORD is coming when your plunder will be divided among you.

2  I will gather all the nations to Jerusalem to fight against it; the city will be captured, the houses ransacked,

and the women raped. Half of the city will go into exile, but the rest of the people will not be taken from the city.

3  Then the LORD will go out and fight against those nations, as he fights in the day of battle.

4  On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem, and the Mount of Olives will be split

in two from east to west,

forming a great valley, with half of the mountain moving north and half moving south.

5  You will flee by my mountain valley, for it will extend to Azel. You will flee as you fled from the earthquake

{Or 5 My mountain valley will be blocked and will extend to Azel. It will be blocked as it was blocked because of the

earthquake} in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Then the LORD my God will come, and all the holy ones with him.

6  On that day there will be no light, no cold or frost.

7  It will be a unique day, without daytime or night-time--a day known to the LORD. When evening comes, there

will be light.

8  On that day living water will flow out from Jerusalem, half to the eastern sea {That is, the Dead Sea} and half

to the western sea, {That is, the Mediterranean} in summer and in winter.

9  The LORD will be king over the whole earth. On that day there will be one LORD, and his name the only name.

10  The whole land, from Geba to Rimmon, south of Jerusalem, will become like the Arabah. But Jerusalem will be

raised up and remain in its place, from the Benjamin Gate to the site of the First Gate, to the Corner Gate, and

from the Tower of Hananel to the royal winepresses.

11  It will be inhabited; never again will it be destroyed. Jerusalem will be secure.

12  This is the plague with which the LORD will strike all the nations that fought against Jerusalem: Their flesh will

rot while they are still standing on their feet, their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongues will rot in their

mouths.

13  On that day men will be stricken by the LORD with great panic. Each man will seize the hand of another, and

they will attack each other.

14  Judah too will fight at Jerusalem. The wealth of all the surrounding nations will be collected--great quantities

of gold and silver and clothing.

15  A similar plague will strike the horses and mules, the camels and donkeys, and all the animals in those camps.

16  Then the survivors from all the nations that have attacked Jerusalem will go up year after year to worship the

King, the LORD Almighty, and to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles.

17  If any of the peoples of the earth do not go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD Almighty, they will

have no rain.

18  If the Egyptian people do not go up and take part, they will have no rain. The LORD {Or part, then the LORD}

will bring on them the plague he inflicts on the nations that do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles.

19  This will be the punishment of Egypt and the punishment of all the nations that do not go up to celebrate the

Feast of Tabernacles.

20  On that day HOLY TO THE LORD will be inscribed on the bells of the horses, and the cooking pots in the LORD's

house will be like the sacred bowls in front of the altar.

21  Every pot in Jerusalem and Judah will be holy to the LORD Almighty, and all who come to sacrifice will take

some of the pots and cook in them. And on that day there will no longer be a Canaanite {Or merchant} in the house

of the LORD Almighty.

FEAST OF TABERNACLES……………………………………………………….....WORSHIP MEETING

 [Feast of Ingathering]

15th to 21st day

The 7th month of the year of historical Israel's calendar was when the Feast of Tabernacles took

place. In terms of our modern calendar that would be the 9th October [for the first day] and the

10th October [for  the second day], depending whether the year is a leap year or not.

In this feast is implicit the aspect of protection in the wilderness.

The women fled into the desert to a place prepared for her by God, where she might be taken care of

for 1,260 days.

                                                                                                                Revelation 12:6. [New International Version]

At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the

bridegroom. Five were foolish and five were wise. The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil

with them. The wise, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps.

The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep.

At midnight the cry rang out: `Here's the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!'

Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps. The foolish ones said to the wise, 'Give us some of

your oil; our lamps are going out.'

''No,' they replied, 'there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead, go to those who sell oil and buy

some for yourselves.'

"But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in

with him to the wedding banquet.

And the door shut.

"Later the others also came. 'Sir! Sir' they said. 'Open the door for us!'

"But he replied, I tell you the truth, I don't you.'

Therefore keep watch because you do not know the day or the hour.

                                                                                                                Matthew 25:1-3 [New International version]

Symbology of the words as follows: -

* kingdom = rulership, supreme power, Christ Jesus.

* virgins = chaste

* five = grace, offerings, ministry.

* oil = Holy Spirit in anointing.

* lamps = spirit of man, Spirit of God, Word of God, salvation.

* bridegroom = one who contracts affinity.

Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop-a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.

He who has ears, let him hear.

                                                                                                                Matthew 13:8,9. [New International Version]

But the one who received the seed that fell on good soil is the man who hears the word and understands it.

He produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown."

                                                                                                                Matthew 13:23. [New International Version]

He answered, "The one who sowed the good seed is the Son of Man. The field is the world, and the good seed

stands for the sons of the kingdom. The weeds are the sons of the evil one, and the enemy who sows them is

the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels.

                                                                                                                Matthew 13:37-39. [New International Version]

The requirement here is to go into all the world and to spread the Good News of the gospel of

Jesus Christ.

The Church failed to enter into the Promised Land in the same way that historical Israel failed to

enter the

Promised Land immediately through continual grumbling.

In the grand scheme of things the fruits of the Feast of Tabernacles has still to be experienced

by the Church.

The Feast of Tabernacles is to be kept in the Promised Land because we need to move on in our

Christian walk to a place of maturity.

Therefore let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again the

foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith in God, instructions about baptisms, the

laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgement.

And God permitting, we will do so.

                                                                                                                Hebrews 6:1-3. [New International Version]

Just as God is a goal-oriented God; the Christian has need of a goal. That is to be in the `double portion

anointing.'

* Where the Word of God in terms of the living Presence of Jesus has become an increasingly progressive

experience. Where the Christian has been washed with the Water of the Word and where the Word

reaches the stage of the Bread of the Presence---Jesus bonded with every part of our soul [will, intellect

and emotions].

We move from the salvation experience and to sanctification. Then water baptism followed by the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. Death to the old self so that the resurrected Self can be a continual living experience.

* Where the Spirit of God in terms of the living Presence of the Holy Spirit has become an increasingly

progressive experience. Where the Christian has started with a measure of the Spirit and moved on to

bond/paraclete with the Holy Spirit in full measure with every part of their spirit.

We move from being in bondage to our possessions; and in our family situations. We need to get into

right relationship with our wives. Our relationship with our friends needs to be seen in perspective with

our relationship with the Lord. We need to take our body from being a local experience to an experience

of the Body of Christ. Then we have fully developed and right attitudes to our ministry in Christ.

Then we live in `double portion' life!

Hence the importance of fellowship, breaking of bread prayers and praise.

AND THEN HOLY OF HOLIES IS WHERE WE LIVE FOREVER!

("`These are the Lord's appointed feasts, which you are to proclaim as sacred assemblies for bringing

offerings made to the Lord by fire-the burnt offerings and grain offerings, sacrifices and drink offerings

required for each day. These offerings are in addition to those for the Lord's Sabbaths and in addition to

your gifts and whatever you have vowed and all the freewill offerings you give to the Lord.)

"`So beginning with the fifteenth day of the seventh month, after you have gathered the crops of the land,

celebrate the festival to the Lord for seven days; the first day is a day of rest, and the eighth day is also a

day of rest. On the first day you are to take choice fruit from the trees,

and palm fronds, leafy branches and poplars, and rejoice before the Lord your God for seven days. Celebrate

this as a festival to the Lord for seven days each year. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations;

celebrate it in the seventh month. Live in booths for seven days:

All native-born Israelites are to live in booths so your descendants will know that I had the Israelites live in

booths when I brought them out of Egypt. I am the Lord your God.'"

So Moses announced to the Israelites the appointed feasts of the Lord.

                                                                                                Leviticus 23:37-44[New International Version]

It becomes totally clear that the feasts are there to protect us; to place us in a position where the Lord can

rebuke the `devourer' on an on-going basis. They are NOT meaningless rituals.

The Pastor should have major input into this area in terms of equipping the saints to do the work of

ministering toward building up Christ's body (the Church).
