The good samaritan The man who took care of a stranger-being a good neighbor
A man asked Jesus, " who is my neighbor"? Jesus answered his question by telling a story about a man. The man went from Jerusalem to Jericho. This road was home to many thieves. The thieves stole his clothes and beat him up and left him half dead. Then a priest { a supposed religious man } came by and when he saw the wounded man, he avoided him and went by on the other side of the road. Then a levite, {another supposed religious man}, came by and he also passed by on the other side of the road. Finally a samaritan came by and had compassion on the hurt man. He put bandages on him and poured oil and wind on his wounds and put the man on his donkey and took him to an Inn and paid for him to stay there while he went on a short trip to do something he had to do. He even told the Innkeeper he would pay for anything the Innkeeper had to buy for the man when he came back. After Jesus finished telling the story, he asked the man he was telling the story to, which of the three men in the story was a neighbor to the man? The man replied it was the one that had compassion on the man. Jesus told him to go and do the same. There is a difference in being religious and being a believer in Jesus as your personal savior. Once you receive him, you follow him and walk and talk with him every day, like you would a friend. You help others and try to be a kind neighbor to those that you meet.
