Pray to Him, the Creator, the One True God, God of Mercy and Justice, our Holy Father. Pray internally that He lead you to Truth, in the Love of His Son, Jesus, God from God, Light from Light, of one being with the Father.
Pray and ask for Truth, and for His Salvation. Pray to find the answers - to all your questions. The answers will find their way to you through the world (for example from people living lives God would approve of, or from Holy Scripture, the New Jerusalem Bible for example).
Pray and try to reflect when you can on the heart you bore, in the core of your being, in your soul, as a child. It is there that the Dictates of Conscience may oft be found.
Paddy Kavanagh, the poet, used to say that we only learn what we already know. What is truely good, God wrote into the core of our very souls. Only to Him will all spirits bend their knee, the seal of being His creatures.
A good place to start to learn to pray to God, may be through the Spiritual Exercises developed by Saint Ignatius of Ignola. An abridged version can be found here: Sacred Space.
Let your prayer be internal, and come fromt he heart. Seek the will of God, ask to be lead to purity, which leads to freedom by way of encountering our true nature, which is good.
From the URL http://www.ewtn.com/Devotionals/mercy/backgr.htm, comes the sound advice;
A ¡ª Ask for His Mercy. God wants us to approach Him in prayer constantly, repenting of our sins and asking Him to pour His mercy out upon us and upon the whole world.
B ¡ª Be merciful. God wants us to receive His mercy and let it flow through us to others. He wants us to extend love and forgiveness to others just as He does to us.
C ¡ª Completely trust in Jesus. God wants us to know that the graces of His mercy are dependent upon our trust. The more we trust in Jesus, the more we will receive.
Please let us know how we can pray for you. If you wish to keep your prayer request private please check the "Keep private" checkbox, otherwise your name and prayer will be posted publicly on this page. (Email addresses are always kept private.)
