Letter of Appointment
Bishop Benedicto U. Carantes, the Provincial House of Bishops of the Philippines, the Filipino Communion of Evangelical Episcopal Churches has elected you this day as the Presiding Bishop of her communion. You will be from this day forth be Archbishop “The Most Reverend Benedicto U. Carantes”.
You will be the chief bishop of your own parish and diocese, in addition to that of the Province of the Philippine’s. You also have the responsibility of ministering to the bishops within the Province of the Philippines, convening and presiding over the Provincial House of Bishops. One of your primary roles as the archbishop is to approve and act as Chief Consecrator for candidates for bishop for dioceses within the Province.
Archbishop Carantes, you will serve as a pastor to the bishops within the province. All bishops within the province are responsible to you, The Archbishop, and accountable to The Archbishop and the Provincial House of Bishops. The archbishop is accountable to the Provincial House of Bishops and should seek guidance, when prayed for, from the Archbishop’s Council-Officers of the Corporate body, the FCEEC, Incorporated. Besides pastoral support for the bishops and inter-diocesan coordination, your primary role is to guide and facilitate growth and mission strategies within the province and to continue the work of Archbishop Jan Visser, he of blessed memory, in the Filipino Communion’s ecumenical outreach and networking to and with, but not limited to, the Philippine Wesleyan Church, Episcopal Church Philippines, and all Anglican Continuing Churches in the Philippines; we pray:
O God, by your grace you have called us in the Province of the Philippines to a goodly fellowship of faith. Bless our Archbishop Benedicto U. Carantes and all of our Bishops and other clergy, and all our people. Grant that your Word may be truly preached and truly heard, your Sacraments faithfully administered and faithfully received. By your Spirit, fashion our lives according to the example of your Son, and grant that we may show the power of your love to all among whom we live; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
