Bishop Harry Williams, son of the late Melvin and Hattie Davis Williams, was born on February 8, 1963, in Florence, SC. At an early age, his mother brought him to Bethel where he grew up listening to the Word of God being preached by his uncle, the late Bishop U.I. McCall. He was baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ and received the gift of the Holy Ghost. He is a 1982 graduate of South Florence High School and, in 1986, he met and married the lovely Sis. Evangeline Williams. They have two sons, Frederick and Harry and one daughter-in-law, Sarah Williams.
In 1990, he was ordained a deacon and served faithfully until he was called to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. He preached his initial sermon on December 17, 1995, entitled, “A Complete Christian.” He continued to take heed to the voice of God not knowing the greater work that the Lord had for him to do.
In October 1999, the Lord called Bishop McCall to rest and Elder Williams assumed the role of pastor of Bethel Apostolic Church. He accepted this call of God having God’s assurance of his promise to Joshua, "As I was with Moses, so will I be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee," (Joshua 1:5).Elder Williams was officially installed as pastor of Bethel on February 12, 2000, and God has kept his promise to Elder Williams, as he continues to anoint him and equip him with the tools to take God’s people on to perfection.
On July 22, 2006, he was officially ordained to the title Bishop by the United Churches of Jesus Apostolic’s governing Board of Bishops. Still, he was giving thanks to Jesus Christ, knowing that through Him, all things are possible.
While employed as a manager at Western Sizzlin’ Restaurant, Bishop Williams continues to work diligently along with the people that he has been called to lead and is determined to always be that shining light that sits upon a hill. Under his careful leadership, he organized the Dr. U.I. McCall Activity Center and Louise’s Kitchen, which caters many private and public functions. He also assisted with the constructing of The Food Bank Program, which helps feed many people in the community. In 2004, God placed in the heart of our pastor how to bridge the gap between churches of all denominations. Here, we would gather to worship Jesus Christ by way of exposing the glory of God with “The Exposing the Glory Christian Fellowship Conference.”
Through humility ad love for all people, Bishop Williams continues to draw souls to Jesus Christ, knowing that He is our refuge and He is the only one that will lead up from earth to Heaven. On June 12, 2009, BAC and Bishop Williams Traveled to Yonkers, NY & Philadelphia, PA. While at Kings Highway Apostolic Church (Yonkers, NY), Bishop Williams received a Proclamation from the Mayor of Yonkers declaring June 12, "Bishop H.L. Williams Day" in the city of Yonkers, NY.
Bishop Williams has adopted a theme for Bethel… “GIANTS DO DIE, THE BIGGER THEY ARE, THE HARDER THEY FALL!” Bishop Williams encourages everyone to be faithful to God and He will slay any problems that they feel are giants. “LET GOD ARISE…GIANTS DIE!”
