A Little History of Allensville Baptist Church

Allensville Baptist Church was formed by members of Westfork Baptist Church and members of Cross Bridges Baptist Church on October 9, 1904. With no actual building to attend services in, the church started out with tent revivals, under the direction of Rev. J.E. Hight. Plans were put into place to build a church located in the village of Needmore, which is now the current location that we attend today. The congregation attended their first sermon inside the new sanctuary on January 1905. Services were attended in this building until March of 1957 when the congregation voted to build a new building. It was then that the old building was torn down and a new block building was constructed. This is the building we know and attend currently known as 1260 First Avenue. Remodeling throughout the years has changed the appearance from the original construction. A 12 foot extention was added to the back of the church in 1972. Remodeling inside the church in 1989 changed the interior by adding the nursery in front and separting the entrance of the stairs from the sanctuary. The parking lot was paved in 1993 and vinyl siding was added to the exterior in 1995. Elmer Crosby 1998-2011 - Dr. Dale Ledbetter; Transitional Interim Pastor June 2011- August 2011 - Dr. Ron Wilcoxson; Interim Pastor December 2011 - February 2012; David L.
