Should SEO Companies Have Guarantees?
And how do you guarantee a top ten ranking, yes or no? That’s a great question.
It is. It’s actually a pretty controversial question. You can go around and talk to different SEO and there are some very strong opinions about this. I’ve been in several debates on forums where some people are absolutely adamant you should not have a guarantee. The reasoning behind that thought is that really SEOs don’t have that kind of control. They cannot control where people are ranking. They just don’t have that.
The search engines, they can change their algorithms at any point. Even if you have a really good idea of what’s going to work, you have to admit that there’s going to be some changes that happen to algorithms and so anything can happen. Also, you are dealing with competition.
So, it’s not just how can I get you ranked well, but what are the other people who are trying to rank well for these keywords doing and how is that going to affect the ranking for this site? There are a lot of good reasons why people don’t offer guarantees.
But at the same time, I think that you really should. This is one reasons why we, at OurChurch.Com, did. We decided, we wanted to offer a guarantee because of two reasons:
1. One is we saw what we were able to do.
We were able to look at the history of what we do and say, “Look we have consistently been able to produce these results. Let’s be willing to put that down in writing.” We were confident enough that we were going to be able to do that.
2. The other thing is that it’s really is a matter of risk.
It’s not that I can guarantee you this is going to be the number of 8th spot or number one spot for this keyword. It’s that I’m willing to say that, “What I can do for you, I think I can get you these results and I’m willing to put a risk on myself for this.” Otherwise the client is going out there and they are putting all the money out there.
Right and they are assuming all the risk.
They are assuming all the risk. So, if the SEO doesn’t achieve it, then what does it hurt them? They’ve still got their money.
You are out there with nothing. I think what the guarantee really is saying, “We are going to take some of that risk.” And I know with us, with OurChurch.Com, that our thought process is that our main goal is not get your money.
“Our main goal is we want you to achieve your mission.”
Whatever your mission is, that’s what we want to help you to do. If we are not accomplishing that through the optimization services, then we are willing to take some of that on ourselves.
Yeah and that’s where the guarantee comes in play. I guess, in a nutshell, what you are saying is that, yes, you do feel that SEO companies should offer guarantees. If they are confident in their services and their ability to get your website ranked well, then they should offer that guarantee.
